Green Thumb Meet-and-Greet for Brooklyn Community Gardeners

June 13, 2018 - The Picnic House - Prospect park.

Green Thumb

Green thumb hosted their second meet and greet for Community gardeners in Brooklyn, to

celebrate the hard work and dedication to stewarding public green spaces. The event was held at The Picnic House at Prospect Park.

There were 15 organizations (Greening Partners) represented at this event and we were treated to a very tasty buffet with sandwiches and beverages!

Gardeners got to know each other participating in an activity: “Things Gardeners are challenged by” where we discussed the challenges that each garden faces and came up with possible solutions. Examples of some of the issues and solutions are listed below.

· Water Access: access the hydrants

· Community Engagement: holding events

· Fundraising: how to bring in funds for the garden

· Composting

This was a great learning experience, and many more of our gardeners should attend the next function and become familiar with other gardens in the surrounding area.
